Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.
I loved Certain Dark Things, which was beautiful and dark. This one sounds so different from the harsh setting of the book I read by Moreno-Garcia, but it also sounds like it could be captivating. I so look forward to reading this because while the more elegant and etiquette setting may differ from Certain Dark Things, I feel confident that all the author’s strengths will shine in this one as well.

“Truly one of the most beautiful books I’ve read in a long time. This sweeping tale of love lost and found is told with old-world elegance, grace and just the right touch of magic.” —M.J. Rose New York Times bestselling author
Antonina Beaulieu is in the glittering city of Loisail for her first Grand Season, where she will attend balls and mingle among high society in hopes of landing a suitable husband. But Antonina is telekinetic, and strange events in her past have made her the subject of malicious gossip and hardly a sought-after bride. Now, under the tutelage of her cousin’s wife, she is finally ready to shed the past and learn the proper ways of society.
But Antonina, who prefers her family’s country home to the glamorous ballrooms of the wealthy, finds it increasingly difficult to conform to society’s ideals for women, especially when she falls under the spell of the dazzling telekinetic performer Hector Auvray. As their romance blossoms, and he teaches her how to hone and control her telekinetic gift, she can’t help but feel a marriage proposal is imminent.
Little does Antonina know that Hector and those closest to her are hiding a devastating secret that will crush her world and force her to confront who she really is and what she’s willing to sacrifice.
Certain Dark Things was the first book I read this year and talk about starting off with a bang. Although this one sounds really different, I’m pretty much sold on reading anything by this author and can’t wait to give this one a try.

I found Certain Dark Things at the library my last visit. Haven’t started it yet but I hope to get to it.

Hope you enjoy it. It’s not one I can guess easily if you would like or not. It’s not dystopian, but at the same time, could maybe be similar to some readers? And I know how much you tend to love those. Definitely worth a shot though, I really enjoyed it.

I have to admit I’m a little worried about this. One of the things I loved about Certain Dark Things was how DARK it was, and this sounds like the complete opposite. I may have to read some reviews first before I decide:-)

I’m really curious about it. And just because it has an etiquette filled story doesn’t mean it can’t still be dark, so I’m going to go in maybe not expecting it, but also fully aware she may throw some of that darkness in there.

I have to agree with Tammy: having recently finished Certain Dark Things I felt this book’s premise far too… bland in comparison and I’m afraid I will be sorely disappointed. Hopefully there will be some unexpected turn that will change my mind about the story…

I’m interested in this one too! After Certain Dark Things I knew I wanted to try more by the author, maybe I’ll also give her first novel a shot.

Yeah, I’ve had her first one for years and keep meaning to make time for it. That’s been reinforced after reading Certain Dark Things. One of these days

Ooh telekinetics sounds fun. I’ve seen the positive reviews for Certain Dark things, and while I haven’t read it yet, this one catches my eye too. I’ll have to add this one to the TBR…
