Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.
What can I say? I absolutely reading about love Fitz and whatever tragic adventures come his way. We thought we were done after the Tawny Man trilogy, but I am ecstatic to learn we are not. Really can’t wait to read this one.
The Fool’s Assassin by Robin Hobb
Expected Publication: August 12th 2014 by Del Rey
Nearly twenty years ago, Robin Hobb burst upon the fantasy scene with the first of her acclaimed Farseer novels, Assassin’s Apprentice, which introduced the characters of FitzChivalry Farseer and his uncanny friend the Fool. A watershed moment in modern fantasy, this novel—and those that followed—broke exciting new ground in a beloved genre. Together with George R. R. Martin, Robin Hobb helped pave the way for such talented new voices as Scott Lynch, Brandon Sanderson, and Naomi Novik.
Over the years, Hobb’s imagination has soared throughout the mythic lands of the Six Duchies in such bestselling series as the Liveship Traders Trilogy and the Rain Wilds Chronicles. But no matter how far she roamed, her heart always remained with Fitz. And now, at last, she has come home, with an astonishing new novel that opens a dark and gripping chapter in the Farseer saga.
FitzChivalry—royal bastard and former king’s assassin—has left his life of intrigue behind. As far as the rest of the world knows, FitzChivalry Farseer is dead and buried. Masquerading as Tom Badgerlock, Fitz is now married to his childhood sweetheart, Molly, and leading the quiet life of a country squire.
Though Fitz is haunted by the disappearance of the Fool, who did so much to shape Fitz into the man he has become, such private hurts are put aside in the business of daily life, at least until the appearance of menacing, pale-skinned strangers casts a sinister shadow over Fitz’s past . . . and his future.
Now, to protect his new life, the former assassin must once again take up his old one. . .
Ya, it will be a few years since I get to this one since I never got past the first trilogy. Liked it, just my late start to fantasy is kicking my butt on some of these established authors.

Yeah, I have the same problem. I don’t know how late of a start you got, but I didn’t really start reading the genre until 2011 (and I read pretty much no fantasy as a kid). So there are TONS of established authors that are huge holes in my reading repertoire.
I have stalled on the third book of the Farseer trilogy and haven’t even touched the Tawny Man trilogy yet. That was the only thing holding me back from requesting this book, because I assume there will be a ton of spoilers and I also won’t be able to appreciate this one as much without have completed the first couple of Fitz series. I’d like to know your thoughts when you get a chance to read this, because if you think I can get away with not having finished Farseer and Tawny Man, I might still give it a shot. I don’t mind skipping around 😀

I’ll definitely let you know. Although, I would be shocked if its not full of spoilers for Tawny Man. 🙂
Didn’t read the blurb because I don’t want to be spoiled, but I hope to be up to date by the time this book is released! I’m figure I’m only 4 books behind at this stage…
(It’s the Farseer Trilogy, Tawny Man Trilogy, and finally this new one, right?)
