Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.
What can I say? I love the Kingkiller Chronicles, and if there is one character that I am dying to learn more about, it is Auri. The idea of getting a story focused on her is just …… MUST HAVE!! I know this is not a full length novel, but I don’t care. I am just excited to read more and the fact that it’s Auri makes me twice as excited.
The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss
Expected Publication: October 28th 2014 by DAW
The Slow Regard of Silent Things is set at The University, where the brightest minds work to unravel the mysteries of enlightened sciences, such as artificing and alchemy. Auri, a former student (and a secondary but influential character from Rothfuss’s earlier novels) now lives alone beneath the sprawling campus in a maze of ancient and abandoned passageways. There in The Underthing, she feels her powers and learns to see the truths that science—and her former classmates—have overlooked.
I’m embarrassed to admit I still need to catch up with book 2. I loved the first one (it was an accidental discovery at Barnes & Noble), have the second sitting on my shelf, but I just haven’t quite got to it yet. Maybe this will kickstart me.

Nothing wrong with that. It will be fresher when ever the third book comes out 🙂 or in this case, book 2.5

Oh I am so excited about this also! I’m curious to see how Pat handles a shorter form, and I’m excited we have something to read between books!

I love the Kingkiller Chronicle! I want to read this too, of course, but for some reason I’m not feeling as excited about this as I could be. Maybe it’s because of my penchant for not usually reading short stories/novellas outside a fantasy series, or maybe I’m just wishing it could have been book 3 😛

I actually don’t read short stories/novellas very often, but for this one I am quite excited. And usually when I read them, I wonder why I don’t read them more. Not sure why. On the surface, they usually don’t appeal to me, but I’m typically happy if I give them a chance. Go figure. I’m kinda the same with Science Fiction for some reason.

I’m debating if I want to hold out and see if there’s an audiobook of it. But one way or another I plan on reading it as soon as possible! 🙂

Yay! I’m super excited for this one. I absolutely love the world Rothfuss built in the Kingkiller Chronicles and a chance to read more about it, and about characters other than the main one is always great. 🙂

Yeah, and of all the secondary characters, Auri is the most mysterious. I so want to hear more about her and how she came to live in the The Underthing.

I haven’t heard of this one, but the cover is super creepy. I hope you love it!
