OK, it’s not Winds of Winter, and not a typical “waiting on” choice. And I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy the historical take as much as I enjoy the books (OK, I’m certain I won’t). But I am still really looking forward to getting my hands on more information and history for the world. And illustrations! And maps! Yes, please. Looks like something good to bide my time until WoW.

I can understand that. I think I mainly want it for the pictures 🙂 And no matter how great they may be, I don’t expect them to be able to compete with the actual books 🙂

Yeah, I think this is one for the shelf. I love these companion books. They’re great to just sit and flick through. I have spent hours looking at Tolkien companions and of course the Discworld one.
This looks really neat, I typically have a thing for any kind of “art book” even if they aren’t strictly art-related but more of a reference type volume. I’d get it just for the “lavishly illustrated” pages though, I have quite a collection of such informational books from video games, movies, etc.

I do love the Song of Ice and Fire series, and I’m sure you can never have too much information about that world. I’m still trying to catch up on the series though. Gotta finish A Dance with Dragons before the show starts back. Nice choice!

This sounds really interesting, especially if you’re a major fan of the series. I’ve read (and thoroughly enjoyed) them so far. Normally I wouldn’t buy the companion books because they don’t offer much that’s new, but this sounds like it could be very interesting and dare I say helpful in discovering some potential secrets that might impact the final books in the series? Either way, great pick!

Sounds like this sort of book is overdue for this series! I do like companion books that delve into the worlds of books, and I think this is going to be very popular.
