StackingTheShelves

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly all about sharing your good luck in book acquisitions! So here’s what came my way.

The holiday giving season came a bit early! I unexpectedly received this in the mail. It features short stories from a number of my favorite authors, so I’m really looking forward to it:

Golden Son by Pierce Brown – I loved the first, and have to admit to diving straight into this one as soon as I could. So far it is just as intense and addictive as the first! Many thanks to NetGally and Del Rey for this one!

The Autumn Republic by Brian McClellan – I really enjoyed the first two and am anxious to see how the trilogy plays out in this final book. Many thanks to Orbit for offering this for review.

A Crown for Cold Silver by Alex Marshall – This is the ‘new to me’ author/book I am most excited for in 2015. I’ve heard great things from an early reader and have heard it compared to some of my favorite authors. It does not come out until March, but may find itself next in my reading list. Once again, my thanks to Orbit for sending a copy of this my way.

Touch by Claire North – I’m intrigued by this one. I enjoyed Claire North’s writing in The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August, but the plot never really worked for. Quite interested to see what I think of this one where the story sounds more interesting to me. My thanks to NetGalley and Redhook Books for providing me a copy.

Additional Digital Acquisitions:

Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay – I’ve been meaning to read this for a while. One of my online groups is doing a read of it in December. I’m not sure I am going to fit it in on time, but I got the audiobook anyway. Just because I wanted it and look forward to reading/listening to it.

The Lesser Dead by Christopher Buehlman – I love Between Two Fires, but this book is something so different from that. I got both the audiobook and ebook, so I can read it where ever is convenient. I started the audiobook right away, and am quite enjoying it.

  1. Looks like we’ll be reviewing some of the same books in the coming months! 😀

Halfway through Golden Son now, I think I would have finished this weekend if not for being waylaid by another book – but GS is really good so far. You also reminded me, I haven’t written my review for The Lesser Dead. Borrowed the audiobook from the library and I enjoyed it. I can’t believe what a great narrator Christopher Buehlman is, right?! Usually I get all wary when an author narrates their own books. Doesn’t always end well!

  2. What a lot of very lovely books! Most of which I’m hoping to read also! Like the look of The Lesser of the Dead.
Happy reading. Glad you’re out of your slump – I’ve been in one for a few weeks – hardly read anything this month!
