Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature all about sharing your good luck in book acquisitions! So here’s what came my way
It’s been another couple busy weeks for me!
Digital ARCs
Shadow Study by Maria V. Snyder – The first three books in this series were fun. But I am quite interested to see read now that the protagonist is older. Many thanks to Harlequin!
The Fold by Peter Clines – I’ve heard good things about Ex-Heroes but have not read it yet. I have to admit, the premise of this book has me even more intrigued, a teleportation device that also seems to be changing the scientists that use it! Really looking forward to it! Many thanks to Crown Publishing!
Uprooted by Naomi Novik – I’ve not read anything by Novik before, but this book sounds like the perfect chance to try her. With a blurb that ends with: “Agnieszka fears the wrong things. For when the Dragon comes, it is not Kasia he will choose.” How could I not want to read this. Many thanks to Del Rey!
WINNINGS
There seemed to be a rush of giveaways, and somehow I was lucky enough to win a number of books from them! Here’s the three that showed up since my last post.
Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen (won from Qwillery) – I try to not request ALL the books I see, so sometimes a book comes out that I wished I had requested. That was the case with Stolen Songbird. I’ve read a number of good reviews and am looking forward to reading it! Thanks to The Qwillery and Angry Robot for the giveaway!
Echo 8 by Sharon Lynn Fisher (won from Bibliosanctum) – This one sounds like it could be great for when I’m in the mood for something a little different (and with a bit of romance). Thanks to Bibliosanctum and Tor for the giveaway!
Pacific Fire by Greg Van Eekhout (won from Books, Bones and Buffy) This book is an extra reminder that I still need to read California Bones!! Which, funny enough, I also won from Books, Bones and Buffy! Thanks to Books, Bones and Buffy and Tor for the giveaway!
Acquisitions
Sharps by K.J. Parker (purchased) – This was a kindle Daily Deal and I’ve been meaning to read another book by K.J. Parker. I could not *not* get it!
Dreamer’s Pool by Juliet Marillier (purchased – ebook and audiobook) – I’ve seen so many 5 star reviews for this one, I nominated it for my March book club read, and it won! But I couldn’t hold out, I started it right away. Oops? Anyway, all of the high praise was definitely warranted!
Miserere: An Autumn Tale by Teresa Frohock (ebook and audiobook) – I picked this one up with my March Backlist Burndown in mind. Really looking forward to it.
I remember liking Sharps but not really much about it. Folding Knife and Engineer trilogy remain my favorites.

I loved Folding Knife and hadn’t decided which of her books to read next. So this cheap, so figured “Why not?” 🙂 Good to know if I don’t love it as much to give Engineer trilogy a try still

Ah, I’m going to have to request Uprooted from NetGalley as well once I boost my stats back up a little! That’s one I’m looking forward to. I’m also very glad to see you received your copy of Echo 8!

It does sound really good! And yep, Echo 8 turned up actually in the same envelope as Pacific Fire. Confused me because I hadn’t won two books in any giveaways and it hadn’t occurred to me that Tor would notice and bundle them together 🙂

Nice haul. The Fold and Uprooted both look interesting, and Miserere is one I’ve had sitting on my TBR shelf for a while now (but I’ve been reluctant to dive into without a release date for the sequel).

I didn’t even know there was going to be a sequel! Ah well, I am waiting on so many sequels, what’s one more? 🙂

So glad you finally ate diving into DREAMER’S POOL, or you’ve finished it already. You won some good looking books! I might have to check out that Peter Clines book. I’ve really enjoyed the two books by him I’ve read.

I finished Dreamers Pool (and loved it!) Your review is one of the ones to convince me to try it, so Thanks!, 🙂
