Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.
I absolutely loved The Three. The story was creepy, and the format was so original (told through snippets of blog posts, news stories, interviews, etc). When I heard there was another book coming, it immediately went to my “Must Read” list! And blurbs by Stephen King and Lauren Beukes? Yes, please, now.
Author: Sarah Lotz
Expected publication: June 16th,ย 2015
Publisher:ย Little, Brown and Company
The chilling follow-up to The Three, Sarah Lotz’s “hard to put down and vastly entertaining” debut (Stephen King).
Hundreds of pleasure-seekers stream aboard The Beautiful Dreamer cruise ship for five days of cut-price fun in the Caribbean sun. On the fourth day, disaster strikes: smoke roils out of the engine room, and the ship is stranded in the Gulf of Mexico. Soon supplies run low, a virus plagues the ship, and there are whispered rumors that the cabins on the lower decks are haunted by shadowy figures. Irritation escalates to panic, the crew loses control, factions form, and violent chaos erupts among the survivors.
When, at last, the ship is spotted drifting off the coast of Key West, the world’s press reports it empty. But the gloomy headlines may be covering up an even more disturbing reality.
DAY FOUR is a heart-racing tale from “a ferociously imaginative storyteller.”*
*Lauren Beukes
I still need to read The Three! At this point, I feel like the only person I know who hasn’t read it yet.

If you listen to audiobooks, I really enjoyed the audiobook format! (I get to books quicker if I can do an audiobook) ๐

I remember being curious about The Three when it came out, but the more I read about the format, the less interested I was. I’ve never been fond of narrative gimmicks, but glad it worked for you.

I don’t really consider this a gimmick. What I loved about it is how much it mirrored how we get and follow news stories today. We don’t just get one source, we get pieces from all sorts of different sources. If this had been a real event, its how we would likely get the story in real life. And I like that the book made me think about that as well.

I can’t believe I haven’t read The Three yet! I have it but just need time to read it. Day Four will be going on my TBR for sure, and maybe this will get me to hurry up and read The Three. Wait, is this a sequel?

It is a sequel so I would definitely read The Three first. Plus, The Three is amazing, so you want to read it anyway. ๐

I’ve had The Three on my list since – well, since it came out. Guess I need to get it read. I love the idea of the story including interviews, etc. But then, I love epistolary novels too.

It is so good, and unique. Hope you enjoy it when you do read it!

I’m already afraid of flying so The Three didn’t make the idea of plane travel any more scary for me, but looks like Sarah Lotz is going to ruin cruising now for me as well! Can’t wait to read this one! ๐

Ha ha ha! I’m probably more fearful of cruises than flying, so we’ll see how this goes! Really looking forward to it (and I heard it was scarier than The Three)

I love the fact that Lauren Beukes has become so big that her blurbs appear alongside Stephen King’s. I’ve heard great things about The Three, so I’m thinking I need to investigate that one before Four comes out! I see you enjoyed the audiobook, so I might try that format.

Yes! More people need to read her! Look forward to seeing what you think of The Three! I think you’ll love it.
