Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature all about sharing your good luck in book acquisitions! So here’s what came my way since my last post!
It’s been another couple of great weeks for book additions!
Received for Review
I’m a big fan of the Tao series, and was quite excited to see what other worlds/stories Chu had in store for us readers! I finished this very quickly, and it is definitely different than Tao, but with all the familiar strengths (my review will be up sometime shortly). My thanks to Audible Studios for the review copy!
I received this one as part of the Ace Roc Stars street team. Our last box of books had Magic Breaks in it, and I saw it was seventh in a series, and figured I was unlikely to read it. When they sent this book, they mentioned that Magic Breaks can work as an introductory book for new readers to the series. Knowing that, I may give that book (and then this one) a read. As always, I’m grateful to be a member of this group and many thanks to Ace/Roc for the generosity and sending a copy of this along.
Ready Player One was such an incredibly fun read, I considered this book a “must read” book. I was so excited when this one showed up on my doorstep. Many thanks to Crown Publishing and Wunderkind PR for the finished copy! I had to include photos of the inside of the jacket, as well as the mixed tape playlist! Love it!
Purchases
OK, so I don’t actually have this one yet, but I did pre-order it. And I wanted to mention it because the pre-order is free until November. I am incredibly curious how narration for a graphic novel is done, and it sounded like Joe Hill was very pleased with how this one turned out, so I figured it would great to check out. plus FREE!
This was my Backlist Burndown pick this month. I was in the mood for something different and fun, and remembered seeing a couple of good reviews for this one, so gave it a shot. Finished it in a day, definitely a good choice this month!
Time Salvager was a great read! Definitely some good time travel fun!
And I really want to read Armada! I hope it’s as good as everyone keeps telling me it is!

Armada is fun, just don’t go into it expecting grand originality. It embraces copying all the things we know from movies/books/tv.

Ready Player One really only worked for me because of the nostalgia factor, so Armada hasn’t really been on my radar, but I do like the presentation. Very cool.

Armada has sooo many throw back references. And I would guess I missed about half of them.

When they mailed me a finished copy of Armada, I was like, ooh pretty shiny cover. But it didn’t occur to me to look at the inside jacket! Nice find, that’s sooooo pretty. I would never have discovered that on my own, lol.

Well, I might have seen someone else post a pic of it 🙂 But I do tend to take the jackets off when I read because I’m paranoid about messing up the edges (I tend to prop my books)

Apparently people LOVE the Lock & Key comics. I haven’t read it yet… so I just pre-ordered it too! Thanks for the heard up 🙂

I loved them! Its actually the first graphic novel (or comic) I ever read. But being a huge Joe Hill fan, decided to give it a shot. I am very curious as to how it translates since much of the story in graphic novels/comics is visual, but I guess they relay that in the audio.

I’ve been fancying the zombie book for ages – glad it worked out so well. It definitely encourages me to get to it sooner now.
