Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature all about sharing your good luck in book acquisitions! So here’s what came my way since my last post!

It’s been another couple of great weeks for book additions!

Received for Review

Version 2

Tower of Thorns by Juliet Marillier – Based on all the rave reviews of Dreamer’s Pool, I had to read it for myself, and loved it. I am so looking forward to this book and was quite excited to see it show up. Once again, Ace Roc is spoiling its Ace Roc Star team!  So many thanks for this book!!

Wake of Vultures by Lila Bowen – This was one that caught my attention early this year. Quite excited its getting close enough I now have a copy I can read! I mean, it has the girl dressed as a boy trope that I love, then she suddenly acquires a new type of sight, I really, really am looking forward to this. Many thanks to Orbit!

Ancillary Mercy by Ann Leckie – If you read either my review for Ancillary Justice or Ancillary Sword, you have to know how much I’m looking forward to this one. Again, thanks to Orbit for the review copy!

Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel – The description of this makes the style sound similar to The Three, which I loved. I am quite curious to see if it works as well in this as the story sounds promising. Many thanks to Del Rey!

Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire –  I have not read anything by McGuire before, but this one does sound intriguing. “Used up miracle children” who have been sent away from magical land, I am curious! Many thanks to Tor.com for sending this my way

Binti by Nnedi Okorafor – This was in the set of review copies Tor.com sent me last time, but I wanted I wanted to list it this week as I think its another one I am going to try to read. I have heard good things about the author, and this sounds quite good. A young woman offered a spot at the best university in the galaxy? But she must leave her life and goto somewhere that is at constant war? The more I think about this one, the more I want to read it. Thanks again to Tor.com for their generosity and the chance to review this!

Non-Review Books

A Darker Shade final for Irene

A Darker Shade of Magic by Victoria Schwab – This book was on my list of 2015 releases to look for, but somehow I just haven’t gotten to it yet. I was thrilled to receive this as a gift as part of the Ford Audiobook Club. Now with a copy in hand, I have no more excuses! Really looking forward to it. Thanks to Ford Audiobook Club!

  1. YES another Marillier convert! I can’t believe I’d never read her before last year – she’s among my favourite authors now. Wake of Vultures and Every Heart a Doorway are titles I’m really looking forward to reading. Apparently EHaD features an asexual protagonist, which I’ve never read about in SFF before, so hooray for that! 🙂
