MonthlyMusingsThis is a where I look back at what I read (or tried to read) during the past month. I also plan on highlighting my experiences in any book club reads I from the month as well. I will always start with any books I would label as a surprise find/under-read books so if anyone missed my reviews for them, and don’t make it to the end of this post, they’ll be easy to find.

August has been a busy month for me, in addition to what you see on the blog, I have also been at work getting the website and schedule organized for the launch of The Speculative Herald. Originally, we had planned to launch in October, but there are so many amazing books coming out Sept. 29 and Oct 6, we just couldn’t contain ourselves. The launch will now be late September. Keep an eye for it:

I couldn’t pick between these. Really, they are all amazing reads. Fool’s Quest is the only one I gave 5 stars to, but the others were really close, and since Fool’s Quest is so far into the series, I wanted to share my love for the other two, which are both first in series books and easier for someone to jump into.

The prose in The House of Shattered Wings is just beautiful, and pair that with a fascinating take on fallen angels in a broken city, loved it.

Then there is The Fifth Season which is such a captivating world and story, another one that I loved, but for completely different reasons. You can’t go wrong with either.

And of course, Hobb once again takes the reader through some major emotional turmoil in Fool’s Quest. And I love the way she is tying the Rain Wilds and Farseer worlds together.
