Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.
So far, I have not been disappointed by a Mulholand book so I am always keeping an eye out for their books that have a speculative aspect. This has a very short description, but I have to say I am quite intrigued! It sounds like it could be an exciting story, but one that can also have some great deeper meanings and insights. Really looking forward to it!

“An epic contemporary detective story,” according to the publisher, set in alternate world in which the Civil War never happened and slavery still exists in the American South. The novel follows an undercover agent trying to capture an escaped slave.
I really love the cover, it’s so graphic! I have yet to read Ben Winters, but everyone loves his Last Policeman series so I’ll have to keep an eye on this one.

Good choice – what an unusual idea – kind of alternate history in a way, well, no, I don’t suppose it is like that. Anyway, definitely intriguing.

I’ve not read it, but knowing his other books are rated highly by you definitely makes me even more excited about this one.

Yes. I want it, haha! The cover looks like literary fiction, and the description makes me think this could be a very thought-provoking and challenging read.
