Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.
I just love the sound of this one. And the longer I think about this one, the more I want to read it. And I love the cover. 🙂

A gorgeous fantasy in the spirit of Pan’s Labyrinth and John Connolly’s The Book of Lost Things.
Set in a world similar to our own, during a war that parallels World War II, A Green and Ancient Light is the stunning story of a boy who is sent to stay with his grandmother for the summer in a serene fishing village. Their tranquility is shattered by the crash of a bullet-riddled enemy plane, the arrival of grandmother’s friend Mr. Girandole—a man who knows the true story of Cinderella’Âs slipper—and the discovery of a riddle in the sacred grove of ruins behind grandmother’s house. In a sumptuous idyllic setting and overshadowed by the threat of war, four unlikely allies learn the values of courage and sacrifice.
I love the sound of this too. I think what really grabbed me at first was the title, it’s so poetic. Can’t wait to read it!

“sumptuous idyllic setting” – I need no other recommendation to add this book to my list 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Wow, this sounds fantastic! A comparison to Pan’s Labyrinth is always an easy sell for me – I absolutely love that film.

I love the cover and the description, which is why I requested it off NetGalley. There was a blurb that compared it to Pan’s Labyrinth, which was what did it. That said, I think it could go either way, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised 🙂

Sounds like it could be interesting. Anything with alternate realities is always something I’m willing to give a try. 🙂
