Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.
Because I enjoyed Mirror Empire and Dune, I figure I should give this one a shot as well!

Set within a system of decaying world-ships travelling through deep space, this breakout novel of epic science fiction follows a pair of sisters who must wrest control of their war-torn legion of worlds—and may have to destroy everything they know in order to survive. On the outer rim of the universe, a galactic war has been waged for centuries upon hundreds of world-ships. But these worlds will continue to die through decay and constant war unless a desperate plan succeeds. Anat, leader of the Katazyrna world-ship and the most fearsome raiding force on the Outer Rim, wants peace. To do so she offers the hand of her daughter, Jayd, to her rival. Jayd has dreamed about leading her mother’s armies to victory her whole life—but she has a unique ability, and that makes her leverage, not a leader. As Anat convinces her to spend the rest of her life wed to her family’s greatest enemy, it is up to Jayd’s sister Zan—with no stomach for war—to lead the cast off warriors she has banded together to victory and rescue Jayd. But the war does not go at all as planned… In the tradition of The Fall of Hyperion and Dune, The Stars are Legion is an epic and thrilling tale about familial love, revenge, and war as imagined by one of the genre’s most imaginative new writers.
I don’t read nearly as much sci-fi as I do fantasy, but Hurley’s talents plus an intriguing concept are putting this on my TBR list.

I wasn’t a big fan of the Mirror Empire, but I’m willing to give her another shot, because this sounds really good!

I hate to admit this, but aside from an essay in Uncanny Magazine and her blog posts, I have never read anything from Kameron before! 🙁

Sounds worth taking a look at — even though The Mirror Empire was a big disappointment for me personally.

I’m sad to say I’m not really a fan of her style, so I’ll probably pass on this one. Hope you’ll enjoy it thought! 🙂

Galaxy-wide politics, revenge and war in a space opera setting? This one has my name written on it! 🙂
Not to mention that the concept of world-ships sounds beyond fascinating…
Thank you for highlighting this! **thumbs up**

I’m not much of a science fiction reader (as that stuff seems to fly over my head, lol), but the protagonists certainly sound like strong, female leads and that’s a definite plus! I hope you enjoy it!
You have an awesome blog! Followed via BL. =)

I absolutely LOVED Hurley’s book God’s War. I’m looking forward to this one, and her collection of essays on feminism in SFF as well!

I haven’t read this author yet and she does seem to generate a mixed reaction. I think I’ll wait and see what you think of this one – I’m a bit more hesitant with sci fi.
