Friday Firsts is a new meme that will run every Friday here on Tenacious Reader. It will feature the first few sentences/paragraph of my current book and my first impressions as well. It’s meant to be a quick and easy way to share a bit about what I am reading, and I would love to hear others join in sharing their current reads as well.

He’s curled in a ball, shivering, under a piercing white moon. He’d forgotten how bright the moon was, how its light could go right through a man, cold in his bones, searching out what was hidden deep. Go away, he breathes, arms up over his head, knees to his chest, trying to be invisible. Leave me alone. But the light seeks him out, finding a way through the high canopy of the beeches, through the rough blanket of bracken and fern he’s scrambled together, through the rags of his clothing, right inside him. Into his mind, tangling his thoughts. Into his heart, probing his wounds. It’s been so long. How long has it been? How long has he been away?

My First Impressions
My first impression is why did I wait so long to start this one?? I loved the first two books and have very quickly been pulled back into this world and the lives of the characters. Honestly, I wish I was reading that right now instead of this 🙂 The beginning here definitely made me curious, wanting answers to the questions in the first paragraph. Who is this? Where is he? How long has it been? What is going on?? 🙂
What are you reading right now? Did it start out strong? Feel free to share in the comments, and also feel free to link up!
I am so late to the party with this series…I guess it’s binge read time! Lol. I’m in the middle of Dragon and Thief which is a little too young for me, and started out slow. But I just got to a good part so there’s hope!

The plus side, this series is very, very binge readable! 😀 Would be fun to read that way 🙂 Hope your over the slowest part with Dragon and Thief and it keeps picking up! 🙂
After falling in love with the first book, I realize I have waited far too long to start on the second volume – but I get too easily distracted by the “bounty” out there… From the excerpt you shared, it seems as if the writing is just as powerful and enticing as that of book 1. Good to know… 🙂
Thanks for sharing!

GAH! I absolutely HAVE TO read this! I’ve had a review copy for ages but somehow (like you) I never got around to it. That’s gonna be corrected soon! 🙂

I have to catch up – have the second waiting to be read. I don’t know why I’m waiting as I loved No.1 – well, I do know, I just got too behind with review books so all my own books have taken a back seat! Need to make more time.
