Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature all about sharing your good luck in book acquisitions! So here’s what came my way since my last post!

Wow! I haven’t done a Stacking the Shelves post in 2 months! I was scared that this post would have an overwhelming amount of books, but I’ve done a decent job at limiting my requests lately, and so its not too bad (actually, most of my acquisitions were unsolicited)! If I missed some, I will put them on my next post, which hopefully won’t take as long to get to as this one did.

Received for Review

Firebrand by Kristen Britain – This was a wonderful surprise arrival! I’m a fan ofmthe Green Rider series, and the wait between books is up there with GRRM. Bit, i have plenty to read now. you can’t tell from th photo, but this book is over 800 pages! So many thanks to DAW for senind this my way! (I’m over 500 pages in and enjoying it!)

Holver Alley Crew by Marshall Ryan Maresca – What’s this? Another new series from Maresca? Yes, please! It’s an interesting approach having these parallel series. Again, thanks to DAW!

I also had a couple of arrivals from Pyr.  Black City Demon by Richard A. Knaak, Worldshaker by J. F. Lewis. I have some catching up to do to read these as neither are first in series (I do have Knaack’s first book in this series). Many thanks to Pyr for keeping me well stocked with new series to try!

Freeks by Amanda Hocking – This sounds like a fun read, complete with a traveling carnival. For anyone interested, I am hosting a giveaway!

The Djinn Falls in Love and Other Stories (ed. Mahvesh Murad and Jared Shurin) – OK, I know I am not nearly as good at reading short stories as I am at collecting them, but when offered a copy of this one I had to jump. It has stories from Neil Gaiman, K. J. Parker, Nnedi Okorafor, Claire North, and more …  🙂 Many thanks to Jared Shurin for the copy!

With Blood Upon the Sand by Bradley P. Beaulieu – YES!!! I am so excited to read this one. Twelve Kings of Sharakhai is a real stand out from the books I read last year. And Of Sand and Malice Made was amazing as well. I am definitely looking forward to continuing the series. Many thanks to DAW for the review copy!

Tad Williams Trilogy – I had no idea I won this giveaway, honestly forgot I even entered it. So when a big package of books showed up (complete with foam sword), it made my day. Really looking forward to finally reading some Tad Williams.

Purchases

Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft – I’ve heard a lot of hype about this one since pornokitsch first raved about it as his runner up for SPFBO. It’s this month’s book for the r/fantasy Goodreads Group Book of the Month, so I decided to grab a copy and hope I fit in it so I can join the discussions.

Forsworn: A Powder Mage Novella by Brian McClellan – With his new book coming out this year, I felt like revisiting the world and picked up the novella, Forsworn.

Six Months, Three Days by Charlie Jane Anders – There are so many books I wanted to read last year that I just didn’t have time for. All the Birds in the Sky was one of those books, so when I saw a short audiobook by Anders, I decided to try it out to get a feel for her writing style.

Gift

And finally, I had a surprise gift in the mail from one of my fellow r/fantasy mods. A signed copy of by Pierce Brown’s Morning Star. I love this series, and the fact that its signed is amazing! Very grateful and happy to have had this surprise! (thanks /u/lyrrael!!) And I think it was especially fun since I don’t know any one IRL with similar taste in books, so I *never* get book gifts.

  1. Senlin ascends! Oh, I LOVED that one. I’m one of those who have recently written a very hyped review 🙂 I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, and I’m very curious about your review.

Amazing about the giveaway, it’s rarely ever 3 books all together like that, that is pretty amazing. And then the sword! Haha.

  2. I’ve only ever read the first Green Rider book but I remember liking it. Those Tad Williams books are good (and long) but I’m reading The Heart of what Was Lost (the new one that just came out) and it’s not impressing me right now. Still I remember that series fondly. And Freeks I’m really curious about!
