Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature all about sharing your good luck in book acquisitions! So here’s what came my way since my last post!

I’m still doing OK refraining from too many requests, but I do have some acquisitions to share!

Walk Away by Sam Hawken – This unexpected arrival is a sequel to The Night Charter, which I have not read yet. The good news is this series sounds like it has a serious kick ass female protagonist and sounds like it should be a good read. I look forward to checking out the first book sometime. Many thanks to Mulholland Books!

I also had a couple of unexpected arrivals from the great folks at Pyr:

Department Zero by Paul Crilley – This was another unexpected arrival and one that sounds like it coul.d be a great read. However, I am taking a break from anything that sounds like it may have too high of a “weird” threshold for me (my threshold is a bit lower than most people). I am going to watch reviews though, as it may still be something I would like to read.

Nebula Awards Showcase 2017 edited by Julie E. Czerneda – A collection of the winning and nominated short stories for the Nebula Awards. There are some great authors in this list including Naomi Novik, Nnedi Okorafor and Fran Wilde.

Many thanks to Pyr for these two books!

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden – This was a Goodreads giveaway win. I am in shock! I haven’t won one of their giveaways in years! Was excited to get this one, the reviews so far have been great.

Behind Her Eyes

Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough – This is more of a straight up thriller I think (not sure if it has a speculative aspect to it at all), but it sounds fantastic and was excited to get an audiobook copy for review (this is the type of book I love to listen to). Many thanks to Macmillan Audio for the review copy!

  1. Dang, those books look great 🙂 I can’t wait when/if publishers will actually mail me books! It’s like Christmas all over the year, isn’t it?
Making do with eARCs for now. But there’s The Bear And The Nightingale! This is the first book that I’ve got through NetGalley and reviewed early that I think is going to be quite big 🙂 you know that feeling? I just reviewed it several days ago. So cool that you won the paper version! It was a great book anyway, I’m sure you’ll like it.

  2. Pinborough was a huge revelation for me: I loved both Murder and Mayhem to pieces, so I’m very much looking forward to your review on this new one. Even if there are no otherworldly elements in it, I’m certain it will be a great story 🙂

  3. Lucky you!!! I never get the REALLLY exciting stuff from Goodreads giveaways, but I can’t complain too much because I won like 4 in 2016 😀 Good haul!
