I loved the Martian, so yeah. I am really, really looking forward to this one. I loved the balance of excitement and humor, and science. Hoping this one is every bit as enjoyable. Plus, I love criminal protagonists, and this one sounds incredibly fun.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal.
Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you’re not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you’ve got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent.
Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down. But pulling off the impossible is just the start of Jazz’s problems, as she learns that she’s stepped square into a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself – and that now, her only chance at survival lies in a gambit even more unlikely than the first.
This looks more like my kind of book than The Martian was. Still, always wonder if someone can follow up on the kind of success Weir had with his debut.

I don’t tend to read sample chapters, I get irritated if I can’t keep reading. Then I’m liable to forget when the book comes out as well 🙂

If The Martian ended up not being my kind of book, the premise for this one sounds more like what I like reading, so I might give Weir’s writing another chance with this one. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
