This week’s theme is Longest Books I’ve Ever Read
This week was easy to generate, but I decided to go over 10 books until I hit 10 authors since so many of the books are series that had multiple books hit the top 10 (thanks George R. R. Martin and Brandon Sanderson). I don’t really remember The Order of the Phoenix being long enough to make the list, but guess it was!
Also, I always have mixed feeling about really long books. On one hand, you get way more bang for your buck, and as long as its well done, the story can be way more complex/exciting. On the other hand, the length and time commitment required to read it makes it harder to read as many other books, which can be a bit of a deterrant. That said, with the exception of the Goodkind book, I loved all the rest of these longer books and am really glad I made the time to read them (multiple times in some cases).

Ah, fantasy doorstops, how would we keep our bookshelves from blowing away in the wind without them? 🙂

FOr me it’s definitely Sanderson!
Yeah, he writes some seriously long novels!

I love the way you formatted your review! And… I am biased, but I love the books you have on here too! ?xx
Thanks!! I loved *almost* all of them 🙂

I’m definitely seeing a lot of Stephen King, Brandon Sanderson and Harry Potter on everyone’s lists today!

The Harry Potter surprised me, forgot how long it was. But King, Sanderson and GRRM I definitely remember being really long

Ha ha Martin seems incapable of writing a short book, as least as far as A Song of Ice and Fire is concerned. And Sanderson… good grief, he writes tomes. Hobb too, surprisingly, I see has some chunksters in her Liveship Traders series. Nice list!

Yes! Liveship was definitely long! But that’s a good thing when its Hobb (or GRRM, or even Sanderson)

Oh man, those are some massive tomes. Think I’ve only read two of them.
ha ha … was the Harry Potter one of them?

Is that version of The Stand the extended version? I read that one too, and oof, I can see why they cut so much out for the original release.
Honestly? I really don’t know. I read it over 25 years ago, I tried to see if I could figure out which copy I read, and the “uncut” version was definitely released back then, so I am guessing its the one I read

I read 11 of those as well 🙂 Nice list!
I sure did not remember Fool’s Fate being this long! It’s probably because it was such a pageturner <3
Exactly!!

I’ve read a few of those! *lol* All of the GRRM novels you listed, The Wise Man’s Fear, and The Order of the Phoenix. And I own a couple omnibus editions of series like N.K. Jemisin’s Inheritance Trilogy and Dreamblood Duology… but those probably don’t count, right?

I debated since I have read some books in the omnibus version, but decided to just count single volumes. But then I get credit for 3 books instead of just one as well 🙂

The Order of The Phoenix was on my list this week too!

I expected to see lots of Games of Thrones for this one – and I still can’t over that I forgot Harry Potter!
Lynn 😀
Ha ha!! I only remembered that one because I used Goodreads to figure out my list. I was really surprised it was long enough to make the cut
