Throwback Thursday is a weekly feature to highlight books from the past. It can honestly be anything as long as its not a book that is a current release. Maybe its a book that I read and reviewed and just want to highlight, maybe its a book I read before I started reviewing or maybe its a book that has a sequel coming out soon or maybe its a backlist book from my TBR that I just want to revisit and decide if I will make the time to read. Pretty much, anything goes.
If you have a backlist book you want to feature in someway, please feel free to join in!
This week’s choice is Age of Iron by Angus Watson
This was a very down and dirty, gripping, enjoyable read. It is dark, twisted, funny and exciting. But it’s also not for everyone, so much so that my review has a list of readers who I think should approach the book with caution. Really this is a great series that could use some more love and readers, so if you enjoy dark epic fantasy with some humor and magic, be sure to check it out.
You can read my full review and check out more details about the book:

Legends aren't born. They're forged.
Dug Sealskinner is a down-on-his-luck mercenary travelling south to join up with King Zadar's army. But he keeps rescuing the wrong people.
First, Spring, a child he finds scavenging on the battlefield, and then Lowa, one of Zadar's most fearsome warriors, who's vowed revenge on the king for her sister's execution.
Now Dug's on the wrong side of that thousands-strong army he hoped to join - and worse, Zadar has bloodthirsty druid magic on his side. All Dug has is his war hammer, one rescued child and one unpredictable, highly-trained warrior with a lust for revenge that's going to get them all killed . . .
It's a glorious day to die.

This is so odd but I nearly used this very same book this week. I loved this and I really do need to complete the series.

This series sort of passed me by. I think the cover has something to do with why I never picked it up, it just screams generic fantasy to me and books with old grisly guys with weapons on the cover just never grab my attention.

I don’t think I knew about this one
Still the best book of the trilogy. Because Dug.
Yeah, I don’t think this one’s for me, but it does look good! Thanks for sharing!
