Welcome to The Friday Face-Off, a new weekly meme hosted at Books by Proxy. Every Friday two books will be lined up to be judged solely on their covers (that thing we are never supposed to do, but you know we all do it!)
This weeks theme: ‘nomad is an island’ – A cover featuring a desert landscape
This week, two things came to mind. First was Dune, a classic with a vivid desert like landscape and the other was the The Shattered Sands series. After looking around at the covers for the books that have been released so far, decided to go with the middle book for cover choices.
I had a hard time with this one, I actually like all of the covers but for different reasons. I love the ship in the sand and the dragon on the Dutch cover, but decided to go with the German one for my pick.
I love all of these! It’s really hard to choose. But I think the US cover has a slight edge, I just love the detailed artwork?

Some gorgeous covers for this book and in fact for the series. It’s so difficult to choose but the German cover did immediately spring out to me.
Lynn 😀
Yessss!!! You picked my favorite cover!
I love the tattered dress of the central figure and the moonlit landscape… 🙂

I considered the first book for this week’s topic too, but this one is much more “desert-y”! I really love the Dutch cover, I just have a thing for ships.
Oh wow, I really love that one with the dragon on the cover.
