Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.
This book sounds wonderfully creepy. So looking forward to it, I mean, a smart little girl held in a cell and strapped down to a wheelchair at gunpoint? I just HAVE to know what that is about!
The Girl with All the Gifts by M. R. Carey
Expected Publication: June 10, 2014 by Orbit
Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her “our little genius.”
Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don’t like her. She jokes that she won’t bite, but they don’t laugh.
Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children’s cells. She tells her favorite teacher all the things she’ll do when she grows up. Melanie doesn’t know why this makes Miss Justineau look sad.
THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS is a sensational thriller, perfect for fans of Stephen King, Justin Cronin and Neil Gaiman.
I love the taglines on these blurbs. What if I love Gaiman and can’t stand King? Then what ill I think about this book publisher people?

Then you will obviously have a love hate relationship with this book. 😉
I was just approved for this on NetGalley, and I’m pretty excited about it. And I just noticed the Joss Whedon blurb, OMG!!! That is enough to make me start reading it right now! Awesome choice:-)

I have to confess to reading part of it last night. Really intrigued so far! Definitely feels like it could make a great movie.
Wonderfully creepy, yes, yes, I agree!

This book piqued my interest the first time I saw it, but I have to say I am getting more and more excited the more I hear about it! I think the straight up Horror tag finally sold me 😀

That actually sounds a lot like my reaction/first impression. The cover, while I really love it, doesn’t quite give a horror vibe.
