Waiting on Wednesday is a meme that was originated at Breaking the Spine, now hosted at Wishful Endings. It’s a weekly feature that lets us share our excitement for books coming out soon.
If you missed my review of An llusiIon of Thieves, go check it out. I really enjoyed it (a girl born to poverty, sold to be raised as a courtesan, sold to a powerful lord, then her worlds collide … was just an amazingly fun read).
The first book ended with a great set up for following books, so I’m really looking forward to diving in!
A Conjuring of Assassins by Cate GlassAlso by this author: An Illusion of Thieves
Published by Tor Books on February 4, 2020
Pages: 448
Romy and her three partners in crime — a sword master, a silversmith, and her thieving brother — have embraced their roles as the Shadow Lord’s agents, using their forbidden magic to accomplish tasks his other spies cannot.
Now, they’ve been tasked with locating a list of powerful men and women pledged to assassinate the tyrant Protector of Mercediare, Cantagna’s most dangerous enemy. Then, they must destroy the list before it falls into the Protector’s hands, where it could plunge the entire Costa Drago into a rampage of murderous vengeance.
But when Placidio and Romy infiltrate the ambassador’s household by impersonating a cloth merchant and an aspiring diviner, they discover that the ambassador’s oddities and the prisoner’s identity signal dangers far more explosive than exposing the Assassins List.
I totally need to catch up with these books! Great choice!

It looks good there!
I had mixed feelings about AN ILLUSION OF THIEVES, but it pull together an incredibly promising setup, so I’m hoping book two works a little better for me!

I’ve never heard of these but they sound good! I hope book two lives up to your expectations.
I need to read the first one but when I saw the cover, I knew what series it belonged to before reading a word. I love it when that happens!
I gotta read the first one!
This sounds really, really good. I hope you love it as much as the first book!
Oh my gosh, I haven’t even read the first one yet, I’ve got to get on it!
This sounds great – but of course I haven’t read the first in series. Hope you love it.
