Stacking the Shelves is a weekly all about sharing your good luck in book acquisitions! So here’s what came my way.
I’ve been trying to limit the number of ARCs I’ve requested lately to make keeping up with them easier. But, this has been a windfall week for me, so I am putting together my first Stacking the Shelves post!
The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell – This book just sounded quite cool. I’ve not read anything from David Mitchell before, and thought this sounded like a great one to try. Teenage girl caught up in something mysterious and dangerous, something that seems to span generations and time. Yeah, I want to read this, So, I was quite happy when I won this one from LibraryThing’s Early Reviewers August giveaway. Quite excited
The Falcon Throne by Karen Miller – This book has been on my TBR list for awhile, just needed to wait for publication. I absolutely love dark, epic fantasy, especially with a political side to it. And I am always thrilled to see women authors putting out books like this. So, winning this from LibraryThing’s Early Reviewers Hachette Bonus Batch June give away made my day! Now that it has shown up, really excited to get a chance to read it.
The Providence of Fire by Brian Staveley – Wasn’t expecting to get this one so early. I really enjoyed reading Emperor’s Blades and have high hopes that the second in the series will continue to be as good if not even better. Really looking forward to finding out. Many thanks to Tor for sending this one my way!
And I have one digital ARC this week:
Gleam by Tom Fletcher – The publisher, Jo Fletcher Books, was kind enough to send me an eARC of this (many thanks for that!). I am really intrigued by this dystopian setting and want to see how it works with the Discard! Really look forward to reading it!
And lastly, this book was a really fun prize from the Little Red Reviewer’s Blind Date with a Book Giveaway
This is the book I won. I honestly had absolutely no idea what it was, and honestly didn’t try to find out. I thought it would be more fun to leave it as a complete surprise:
Any guesses what it might? I knew a few of the other books in her list, but didn’t have a guess for this. one. It was fun unwrapping it, and when I did, this is what I found:

Yay, Tor sent the new Staveley your way! Happy dance 😀
I just finished Gleam and while the beginning might be a little slow, the rest of the book just floored me – such an amazing, crazy weird and wonderful world. I hope you like it.
And don’t worry, I’m not going to spoil it for you, but Andrea did send me an email with all the answers to her secret blind date books after the giveaway because I asked. The one you won had me COMPLETELY STUMPED!

Your blind date book was about 100 times more fun than I expected it to be. rediculous amounts of monsters, destruction, silliness, and fun. Enjoy!

Thanks!! Look forward to find out!Loved your giveaway format! So much fun 🙂 If I had more physical books, I’d have to copy it. I’ll just have to keep it in mind for the future as I seem to be getting more physical ARCs lately.

I’ve been trying hard to resist requests too many ARCs as well and I think you’re doing much better than I am 😉 I hope you enjoy them all 😀

I’m part way through Bone Clocks and quite enjoying it. But the others keep staring at me accusingly because I’m not reading them yet either.

I plan on reading Gleam this month. The cover, I got caught by the damn cover.
Tell me about it!! Damn gorgeous cover, paired with an interesting blurb. All though it’s dystopian, I hope it breaks your run of dytiopian disappointment.

Feedback is slowly trickling in for Gleam, and so far so good! I like the premise, and I recently caught the Dystopian bug, so I am strongly considering giving it a go. I haven’t heard of any of those other books though, so I’ll await your reviews to see if any are worth my while. Happy Monday!

HAHA Godzilla! That giveaway sounds like it must have been fun. I hope everyone else had as much fun unwrapping their book.
David Mitchell!!! I love his writing. His books are super weird and cool – can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Bone Clocks. I haven’t heard many people talk about it so far!
