Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.
This book just sounds like it could be so good. The dynamics between siblings is often fun, and I am sure there’s a good story behind how they got thrown out of the Duelist’s Guild. And then living as highwaymen, and accidentally falling into a plot to restore an angry king to power? Yes! I do want to read this! Oh, and the author? She’s an amazingly fun person online, a regular on the Fantasy Faction forum, her posts are always worth reading with a greatΒ balance of humor and intelligence π ) . And, so I won’t miss the book. Really looking forward to it.
Author: Julia Knight
Expected publication: October 6th, 2015
Publisher: Orbit
Vocho and Kacha are champion duelists: a brother and sister known for the finest swordplay in the city of Reyes. Or at least they used to be-until they were thrown out of the Duelist’s Guild.
As a last resort, they turn reluctant highwaymen. But when they pick the wrong carriage to rob, their simple plans to win back fame and fortune go south fast.
After barely besting three armed men and a powerful magician, Vocho and Kacha make off with an immense locked chest. But the contents will bring them much more than they’ve bargained for when they find themselves embroiled in a dangerous plot to return an angry king to power….
This sounds awesome! I saw this last week somewhere so I think it’s already on my tbr. Siblings stories always hook me in!

Yes, siblings come with a whole heap of baggage and usually a bit of bickering π Always makes things way more interesting!

Damn – you beat me to it! I had this scheduled for a WOW next month. π
Sounds like a fun trilogy. I’m curious how she’ll make the leap from romance to fantasy, but I like that the entire trilogy is scheduled to be published over Oct/Nov/Dec.

Ha ha! Actually, that’s perfect, you can remind people closer to the release date. She wrote another fantasy trilogy under the name Francis Knight, and honestly, it was not the least bit romance-y. She can definitely cross over π The premise of this one sounds much more intriguing to me than Fade to Black, the first book in her last trilogy.

I think we almost became WoW sisters again this week again, since I had this scheduled today but then due to a couple new reveals I have this one bumped for next month. I wonder if Bob and I will be WoW buddies then π Anyway, great pick, I’m looking forward to this one too.

An I *almost* pushed this a week to do Thunderbird. I’ve had that one drafted for a while, was just waiting for the cover! But, I wanted to keep this one for this week.

My first time hearing of this one, but I like it! I get the feeling that Vocho and Kacha are going to be an entertaining duo to read. Love the quote of the book too, “Dying is for amateurs”

Yes, I love that quote as well!

I will never say ‘no’ to high fantasy written by a woman, I just won’t. The duelists guild sounds like so much fun, and I love hearing that the author has a cool online presence. You’d be surprised how many times an author’s twitter feed has convinced me to buy one of their books (especially if they don’t constantly tweet about their book)!

Yes, when an authors entire online presence is just about selling their book, I tune out (and unfollow).

I love these WoW posts – I end up picking loads of books from them and I do like the sound of this one too.
