This is a where I look back at what I read (or tried to read) during the past month. I also plan on highlighting my experiences in any book club reads I from the month as well. I will always start with any books I would label as a surprise find/under-read books so if anyone missed my reviews for them, and don’t make it to the end of this post, they’ll be easy to find.
July was a busy reading month for me. I had a week all to myself when my husband took our boys to visit his family (he gets more vacation than I do … boo!) But, it was nice and relaxing. I really read way more books than is typical, so that is always great!
I’ve also been working on a side project, previously secret, but now that I have people signed on to participate, it IS happening, so I’ll fill you in on at least the basic details. I will be launching a new website for The Speculative Herald, which will be a collaborative effort focusing on news and reviews for the most recent and upcoming speculative fiction. Tenacious Reader is not going away! It’s just in addition to this (because I must have copious amounts of free time on my hands I needed to figure out what to do with … ha!) 🙂 There is still a good bit of work to do for it, but I am in the process of getting the website designed, and organizing how it is going to work. Sound like something you’re interested in? Want to keep up to date?

The twitter account is pretty quiet (silent?) right now, but that will change as we make more progress.

July Backlist Burndown
For July, I read My Life as a White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland. It was different and fun, a nice change of pace for me.
Here’s what other people read and burned off their backlist this month! It makes me happy to see other people joining in with this, so thanks to all of you! 🙂 Anyone else that posted a backlist review this month, feel free to link up! Hope to see another great set of books for August.
Looking Forward to AUGUST 2015
These are some of the books I am hoping to read in the next month.
Yay for the Speculative Herald! I’m bummed I didn’t read a backlist book this month (and next month I probably won’t be able to either, so many review books!) Glad to see we’ve got a couple of similar books to read in August. It seems like another great reading month:-)

I know! And when I saw your list, I realized I forgot to include Zeroes! I know I won’t read them all, but I can try!

So the secret project actually does have a dragon! And here I was thinking you were just teasing me 😉 I’ll definitely start reading that site too when it comes out.
Apparently The Fifth House of the Heart is great, and I want to check out Updraft too.

ha ha, yes, I guess it does have a dragon, doesn’t it 🙂 I really wanted to have read Fifth House of the Heart by now, just got sucked into other reads. One of these days I’ll get there!

I hope so too! I’m hoping to do it as an audiobook after Crown for Cold Silver. Unless I need a break from epic fantasy, and do something light/quick in between.

OMG Lisa, congrats on The Speculative Herald! I am very excited about this. The dragon logo isn’t too shabby either. 😉 I’ve been hearing lots of great things about The Fifth House of The Heart so I’m going to try to squeeze that one into my August TBR, too. Hopefully there’s an audio version!

Thanks, I challenged myself to make a dragon into an S, it didn’t turn out too bad 🙂 And I had really hoped to read The Fifth House of the Heart by now, and all these glowing reviews are not helping! I must catch up! And, I have checked for an audiobook, but unfortunately, have not found one.

I’m looking forward to reading both “Updraft” and “Sorcerer to the Crown.” They both seem like they’ll be amazing books!
Happy reading in August!
