Monthly Musings: September 2015

This is a where I look back at what I read (or tried to read) during the past month. I also plan on highlighting my experiences in any book club reads I from the month as well. I will always start with any books I would label as a surprise find/under-read books so if anyone missed my reviews for them, and don’t make it to the end of this post, they’ll be easy to find.

Well, I feel like I didn’t get much blogging done here at Tenacious Reader this month, but that’s probably because I was setting up The Speculative Herald. I also held a few of my reviews for books I’ve read recently so they will run over there first. And my husband has been out of town, which always seems like I should get more reading done while he is gone, but it seems to be the opposite. Oh well. I think overall I did pretty well with what I accomplished, it just looks a bit slower on Tenacious Reader. But seeing as my goal is to really average 1 review a week, I am actually on target. (I keep my goal low so that I don’t stress, this is fun, I’m just one person, and well, 1 review sounds like a decent thing to aim for, if I get more that’s just an added bonus)

Highlighted Reads from 

My highlighted read for the month is easy this time. The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet was incredibly fun! I have not read much space opera, but as much as I enjoyed this one I am thinking perhaps I should try some more. This one features a wonderful crew dynamic plus interesting world building/race relations/etc. Highly recommend it.

The Speculative Herald

We launched The Speculative Herald, and I think we had a great first week! We started out with a list of our Fall 2015 Anticipated Releases. There are lots of great books on the list, definitely check it out if you haven’t seen it yet.

We ran 5 reviews, one from each contributor. My contribution this week was The Heart Goes Last by Margaret Atwood. This was a such a great book! Definitely encourage people to check it out. My review will run here on TenaciousReader this coming week, but you can read the review now over on The Speculative Herald.
