Waiting on Wednesday – The Obelisk Gate by N. K. Jemisin

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.

I loved The Fifth Season, it was easily one of my favorites from 2015. Definitely looking forward to the next one! The release date is still a little ways away, but the way time goes by, it will be here before I know it.

“Intricate and extraordinary.” – New York Times on The Fifth Season (A New York Times Notable Book of 2015)
The second novel in a new fantasy trilogy by Hugo, Nebula & World Fantasy Award nominated author N.K. Jemisin.
THIS IS THE WAY THE WORLD ENDS… FOR THE LAST TIME.
The season of endings grows darker as civilization fades into the long cold night. Alabaster Tenring — madman, world-crusher, savior — has returned with a mission: to train his successor, Essun, and thus seal the fate of the Stillness forever.
It continues with a lost daughter, found by the enemy.
It continues with the obelisks, and an ancient mystery converging on answers at last.
The Stillness is the wall which stands against the flow of tradition, the spark of hope long buried under the thickening ashfall. And it will not be broken.

  1. Thanks to Uncanny Mag, I’m happy to finally be able to say that I have read a story by N.K. Jemisin – however, still cannot say that I’ve read any of her novels yet :/ I do recall that many people enjoyed the first book of this series a lot! One of the POVs was in second person, if I recall correctly?

  2. I’m definitely looking forward to this one! I might check out the audiobook this time around though, I liked what I saw from your review of the first book and it’s also Robin Miles – she’s a great narrator, I’m a big fan.
