Friday Firsts is a new meme that will run every Friday here on Tenacious Reader. It will feature the first few sentences/paragraph of my current book and my first impressions as well. It’s meant to be a quick and easy way to share a bit about what I am reading, and I would love to hear others join in sharing their current reads as well.
Collecting garbage sharpens the senses. It allows us to notice what others do not see. Where most people would spy a pile of junk, the rag-and-bone man sees treasure: empty bottles that might be dragged to the recycling center, computer innards that can be reused, furniture in decent shape. The garbage collector is alert. After all, this is a profession.

My First Impressions
I’m immediately intrigued. I enjoy the tone and atmosphere of this one, and am incredibly curious. I am maybe 10 – 15% of the way into this book right now, and there are multiple POVs. I think I have already found a preference for certain ones, but it’s still early, and it could also just be because sometimes you like certain characters enough, you just can’t help but have favorites. I definitely like them all, so there’s no negatives there. Looking forward to finding out what the rest of the book has in store! Oh, and in case you didn’t know, it features vampires. But not the sparkly romanticized ones.
What are you reading right now? Did it start out strong? Feel free to share in the comments, and also feel free to link up!
This is one book that intrigued me since the first time I read about it, and every review I’ve encountered had only positive – if not downright enthusiastic – comments for it. I look forward to your review! 🙂

This looks like a fun meme! I’ve seen this book around a bit and I’m intrigued by the vampires and the Aztec (I think?) angle. Looks like a great and atmospheric read.

it’s always a bit tricky for me to have multiple POVs but I’m curious to see what you think of it
